I had an amazing experience visiting this place in Kyoto! The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the whole atmosphere felt authentic and special. I got the chance to try on a genuine samurai armor that’s over 400 years old, complete with real battle marks, scratches, and worn details from its history. It was absolutely fascinating and made wearing it even cooler. Wearing the armor is a must-try for any visitor. It truly makes you feel transported back in time. They also offer a hands-on katana handle-braiding workshop, which I highly recommend for the dexterous and detail-oriented who enjoy traditional handiwork. Definitely one of the most unique and memorable experiences I’ve had in Japan!

I can't believe you can still have this kind of experience in Japan! I didn't know much about samurai, but weaving the handle of a katana was a truly memorable and wonderful experience! The owner was very friendly and spoke excellent Japanese, and was able to carefully and clearly explain any questions I had, so even someone with no prior knowledge like me was able to dig deep into samurai in a short amount of time! Japanese history is so deep, and it has really piqued my interest in Bushido! I am truly grateful for this wonderful experience. This Bushiya is a must-visit spot for anyone visiting Kyoto. I will also be recommending it to everyone I know!

A truly unique experience! At Luca's shop, I had the opportunity to try on real samurai armor from the Sengoku period (late Muromachi period, 16th century): a dream come true. The outfit is meticulously crafted, and Luca, with great passion and dedication, accompanies you step by step, explaining the history and unique features of each piece of armor. It's not just a fun experience, but also a cultural one: you can sense how much he loves sharing his knowledge. In the end, I felt like a true samurai for a moment. I'm a fan of Japan and samurai, and wearing authentic armor was a unique experience. Luca welcomed me into a traditional Japanese home and helped me dress, patiently answering my many questions about the history of the samurai and the various parts of the armor. He even took some photos of me wearing the armor. I can't wait to print them!
